What the frick is this? Do you even lawyer bro? A "slip and fall" attorney or, ambulance chaser, as they are refered to are civil plaintiffs' attorneys. A criminal defense attorney doesn't file frivolous lawsuits. The very nature of their job would be to defend someone who has been charged first by the state. Slip and fall cases are not criminal.

You've pretty much lost all credibility with the fact that your knowledge of lawyers and the legal system could be characterized as "functionally retarded" at best. Also, most ambulance chasers work on contingency (wiki this, maybe you'll learn something) anyway, so it's to their detriment to file frivolous lawsuits with little to no chance of success.

I have found that my lawyer friends normally have the best coke. We need more lawyers.

Good post, if the holy trinity is not complete, legitimate injury-clear liability-adequate coverage, I don't frick with it.

I've never sued an individual, but there are people out there that will take everything you have. Keep your limits up.

Too many Personal Injury lawyers. The reason LA's insurance rates are the highest in the nation isn't because of the amount of accidents, it's the amount paid out. And it's a big freaking racket. Do you honestly think people go to Dr. Plantz cause they hurt their backs playing sports or lifting heavy things? No. Gordon McKernin, Dudley Debossier and others have shady under the table deals with him. Same thing with body shops.

I have been doing this a long time but I talked my children out of going to law school. Too many lawyers at the bottom of the pyramid, fighting over scraps, while a small few who are near the top do very well. Too many changes to the laws year after year, with new regulations and new legal theories. I think that it would be difficult to be a new lawyer today, considering how much more they need to know.

What says the OT? Just enough lawyers in Louisiana or not enough?
With the exception of "frivolous criminal defense cases for slip and fall victims," law is a noble profession.

Are there too many lawyers?
Hard to say.

Law schools are definitely turning out too many Law Grads though.
Survival of the fittest presumably leaves society with the best and brightest.

The vast vast majority of lawyers I've met are extremely bright personable folks

This. The problem is not that there are too many lawyers; the problem is that there are too many lawyers working in a for-profit capacity (or spending too much of their time working in such a capacity). There is actually a severe dearth of lawyers serving the underprivileged and/or working for non-profits.

When my Chewbaca defense isn't working, I normally switch to a slip and fall defense during a murder trial.
