That’s felony murder (2d degree in Louisiana) most anywhere.
There may be an issue with the value of the console. If it is too low, the theft may not be felony level.
The person selling the console is guilty of handling the sale poorly.

Killing someone in an attempted theft will get you at least a second degree murder charge. The guy is like a shop owner trying to defend himself in the process of a theft.

In Louisiana it should be first degree murder as a murder was committed during the commision of a felony
