I don't quite understand how you're conflating an event that takes place on a public road with an event that takes place on private property. Break it down for us.

Lol but it’s open to the public. Or whoever wants to pay for a ticket.

Do you consider a hotel to be public property?

public, private, who gives a shite? It’s a shitty look to cancel every event in town except hers. There will still be hundreds of people there and should be considered a mass gathering. It’s a bad look and I’ll advised

She has become a professional at being hypocritical. This is just the latest.

I don't think she has the power to cancel the event, but wouldn't be surprised to see the event backers cancel it in the next few days due to optics.

No. But that’s not the point. Her event is just as open to the public as the parade or block parties are.

If it were an invitation only event like a wedding reception, Ball, or what not at City Park, Audubon park, The Hyatt then I would consider that a private event and off limits to what the City can and cannot shut down.

Here’s an example, Boudin and Beer is on both public and private property but is open to the public and you have to pay for a ticket to get it, and tickets sell out. Do you think the city has the right to pull their permit and make them cancel the event?

Yes. Doesn't make it a shitty thing to do though.

The cost of the ticket/invitation is irrelevant.

I have no idea. I'm sure there's some bullshite catch all language in the permitting rules that gives the city broad authority to shitcan an event if there's danger to public health or some shite.

Can we at least agree her ball is not a private event?

quote:

Private event means a private gathering limited to members and guests of members of a family, organization, or club, where the event is not open to the general public, and where FOOD is provided without compensation.

quote:

Private event means a specific social, business, or recreational event for which an entire room, area, or hall is leased , rented, or reserved, in advance by an identified group, and the event is limited in attendance to people who are specifically designated and their guests. "Private event" does not include an event to which the general public is invited whether for an admission fee or not.
