Is there a contingency plan for something like this? I know the chances of an impact are slim but at what point would world governments try to stop it? Serious question.

I've been running across podcast on this lately, and chances aren't slim, the earth looks like the moon as far as impacts go. So far the most we could do is possibly nudge it so it hits the ocean instead of a major city. But that's a hail Mary at best.

If 2007 FT3 causes an impact event, it can certainly cause enough blast energy to alter Earth’s environmental condition or wipe out life on the planet.

Not that an ocean landing is much better.

It now appears a much larger Asteroid, 2007 FT3, may destroy our planet in October.

Trump will stop it!

But seriously, if it does hit, please let all those disaster movies about California and New York being destroyed come true.

In 2014 an asteroid passed in between the earth and our satellites. A smaller one traveling with it entered the atmosphere in Russia.

I think it’s one of those hinges where depending on size and trajectory we could maybe do something with enough notice, 5-7 minimum, but if something pops up with 6 months notice there’s not much they could do.

So what happens during that 3 months if they calculate it's going to hit us? Worldwide religious revival? The Purge on steroids?
