BR doesn't need a loop, they just need more than 1 lane on a major interstate going to through it. Adding three lanes has done wonders for past congestion on 12 and 10

Take out all of the traffic lights on Florida Blvd and turn it into an expressway. Have overpasses at major intersection: Foster, Wooddale, Airline(already there), Oak Villa, Monterrey, Sherwood, Flannery, and Oneal.

Set this up just like the loop in Houston.

Use existing service roads for access to all smaller streets.

Rename the thing "Denham Expressway".

That would get downtown state workers and LSU students home much quicker than using I-12.

Also, to get residents of Ascension and Livingston Parishes who work at the plants in the Plaquemine area home quicker:
quote:

Build the bridge South of Plaquemine and connect to HWY 74 in St. Gabriel.
That would give options of HWY 30 north to BR or south to I-10, HWY 74 to Airline and I-10, or HWY 73 out to HWY 42.

HWY 42 needs to cut through all the way to I-12 also. There's nothing but swampland out there anyway.

FIFY

It's nice in the summer because at least the LSU students aren't on the roads, but during the school days it's congestion from Sherwood all the way to Range as it has been in the past.

The real answer to what needs to be done is a BYPASS, much like what Birmingham has with the 459. All 18 wheelers not delivering in the city have to use the bypass and all cars/trucks urged to use it as well. It doesn't add much mileage/minutes to go around and is much smoother than going through the city as far as roads and traffic.

Sure there will always be congestion, but the added lane/lanes has helped a ton and there is no denying that. I travel through BR for a living and the biggest problem is the one lane on I-10. Look ing at the traffic map right now and 12 is all green, it was never that way in years past especially after 345 in afternoon. And the red is near the bridge and thats a joke for an interstate to one lane

I'm using Google

And they can add two lanes, just have to eliminate the park beneath

Sounds like the Hardy Toll Rd or Westpark Tollway in Houston. I like the idea.

Just wait until the 5:00 hour. It's still capable of filling up at a certain spot by then.

It's been 1000% better in the afternoon.

Ratchet City's got that I-20, I-220/3132 (aka The Terry Bradshaw Passway), and I-49. Efficient traffic is one of our few sources of pride.

Hell Ole Miss might actually win a NC in football before Baton Rouge gets a loop. Can't they just cut all the political bickering and get the damn thing done.

Ole Miss win? Nah.
Put 40 people in a room and try to come to a consensus. I've seen/heard the most amazingly stupid shite that comes out of peoples mouths at property owners association meetings. Multiply that times 10,000 and you get nothing done. NIMBY.

A loop would just make too much sense for Baton Rouge
