My cousin has 1 more year of nursing school and has job offers from hospitals in Lafayette and Lake Charles.

Question is where would you live if you were a single 22 year old guy.

My cousin is also a guy.

Lafayette. Lake Charles is not a good place to live as a young single person.

Where is your cousin originally from? Texas? It’s an easier drive back home

Lafayette is a better city overall with more to do.

Not many men in that field, wouldn't you say, Gregg?

Tell Cousine Murse that Laffy comes before Lake Chuck in alphabetical order.

Pay attention to the details.

I have friends who live in south LA, are nurses at Oschner, and are still barely breaking $30 an hour after working there for 10 years. Nurses don’t get paid for shite in Louisiana. If your cousin is serious about building a nursing career, go to Texas or the west coast.

Tell your cousin to look into travel nursing. See the country and work half the year for more money. Hard to beat, especially if young and single.

Lake Chuck is a terrible place to be young and single. After Lithette #3 (no pics) graduated in Chem E with a 4.0 something (subtle brag) she took a job with Phillips there with the understanding she would be in Houston the next year. At the end of the year that told her she did great but they needed her there another year. She found a job with a Renewable Energy Company in the Pacific Northwest. We sold or gave away her furniture we loaded up her car bought a bike rack and she moved. It was so bittersweet watching her leave the area.
She now is in charge of all their engineers in the company

Along time ago during my residency I spent a month in Lafayette. Great month. lot of fun
So no to the LC

To be honest, Lafayette isn’t that great of a place either if you’re young and single, although it’s still miles ahead of LC.

True but at least it's close to something. LC is at least 2 hours from everywhere

Probably Lafayette and hope there isn't an economic downturn in O/G drilling/prod/fab

Travel nurses have to have a year of ICU or ER experience. But that's great when young and single (or empty nester). I know several nurses who did that and went all over the place. A minority returned to Louisiana when they finished

If he doesn’t like to gamble, there’s no reason to choose Lake Charles.

So the POC nurse returned? Pretty racist of you to point that out.
