I used to play on that robot slide at Girard Park when I was a kid visiting my grandma’s house behind St Patrick’s.

It must have closed in the mid 80’s. I remember bringing my brother there to play volleyball or something. Weird how something so trivial can stick with you so long.

With the proliferation of jersey shore types in Lafayette, I bet a place like that on the vermillion would rake in the money these days.

Did this start with the TV show? Seems like this type was nowhere to be found in early 2000’s.

Anyone remember the water slide at Acadiana Mall in the late 70s?

The mall opened in mid ‘79.

Carnival Beach was available for private parties into the early 90’s, but it was basically the pavilion and a little muddy sand.

above average margaritas and fried rabbit.

That's enough for me. What else is needed? Chips and picante... decent steak? Check and check.

the classic la fonda regular response. For some reason the people that go there like this. Like they're so cool and have to know the exclusive off menu items. The fried chicked ain't that good. The Don Briggs isn't that good either. Considering it's just a ribeye covered in cheese, that should be incredible, it's average. Waiter style just means burnt. The ziggy wings are probably my favorite "off the menu item"

The only thing keeping the place busy is the clientele's need to feel important. It lets them feel special and exclusive.

I can't argue with any of this. My wife/inlaws love it. I can tolerate it, and know things in the menu I like. Whatever. Lots of good times.
