3/4 of the people in this thread are smooth brained classless trash. I can't believe this has devolved into a discussion of "should she remain on the bench" and "it's okay because its in their home"
SOo 1/4 of you are fricking morons that think the use of a word means she can't be a judge? I'll take being in the 3/4 group.

Not sure why anyone wouldn't be "on my side" in this.

It doesn't matter much for most people, but she is a public figure. She signed up for this.

Big fricking deal. Hood rat does hood rat things and gets called hood rat names by their victim. Why should that matter to anyone? You say you;re all about calling a spade a spade but spend the whole thread saying this lady shouldn't have her job because she said a word.

I think you’re going to see some motions to recuse filed. That may get appellate courts involved. I don’t know if we’ve heard the last of this story.
This.
While what she said is obviously a problem, that is not the only reason she will likely resign over this.
It's because there will be a flood of motions to recuse her from the thousands of cases in front of her involving black defendants.
Those motions would likely be granted, which means the only other city court judge will have to almost double his case load.
For the sake of judicial efficiency, she will eventually resign.

The lecture you posted that I mocked wasn't specific to her.

"thousands of cases "
she has been in office less than a year

It wasn’t just saying words you don’t agree with. Just stop.

Blocton had been temporarily removed from the bench after a 37-page report accused her of mental instability and drug use, abuse of staff, attorneys and litigants and failure to promptly dispose of cases.

What do you think happened to all of the cases that were pending before her predecessor when she retired?
You think if the judge on your case retires, then your case just get dismissed?
Those cases are now pending in front of Odinet

You say you;re all about calling a spade a spade but spend the whole thread saying this lady shouldn't have her job because she said a word.
Where would you personally draw the line on this kind of language, and the thoughts behind the language, for a person whose job it is to be impartial? I mean surely there would be a point where you would agree that she shouldn't be a judge, right? Would she have to drop N-bombs at the bench?

Assuming you are white... if this were a black judge using similar language referring to a white person, would you feel confident in that person's ability to be a judge?
If that black judge were watching a video of a white guy attempting to steal his property, I wouldn't give a shite what he called the white guy? You don't want someone to call you a mean name...how about not trying to steal their stuff?
I don't think it means she can't be impartial either with anyone except the thief. Would she be in trouble if she were watching a video of a white guy and called him white trash?

Did anyone ever answer who has the power to remove an elected judge?
Does it have to be a recall?
Does it have to be a recall?

quote:Lets look at this from a historical and societal use of the word.
Like I said, if it's even a possibility that the n-word could just slip out, that calls your character and impartiality into question. If you don't think a certain way, you'd never say it. It's really not a difficult concept, but so many in here are struggling with it.
Your definition and my definition of the word may be different. I’m 53 years old, so we may have a different view of it.
My definition of the N word is a black person of low intelligence, low moral character, and often nothing but a detriment to society. If your definition of the word fits all black people, you’re probably a bigot. Do the two thugs in the pics with Santa holding cash and a pistol fit this definition? Yes. Do the vast majority of blacks fit this definition? Absolutely not.
Similarly, my definition of white people who fit this mold are white trash, or just trash, as there’s really no derogatory word I can think of right now that better describes them. Maybe you have one.
I’m a product of my upbringing in the south in the 70’s. No one called black people the word to their face or a fight would probably ensue, but yes the word was used to describe certain people in private. It wasn’t used to describe whole groups of people, usually a certain person or a small group, who usually shared the same negative characteristics that I mentioned earlier.

Everyone is biased one way or the other. If her judgements on the bench show bias then we have a problem. With that said, she should probably go ahead and resign. She doesn't need this shite.
