You have to pay again when you renew your license and it is good up until it expires
All they can do is look at the license and push the refresh button to connect with the DMV
They won't accept that. You have to have the green line above your license and be able to refresh and connect with the dmv. Otherwise we would have been doing this for years

Once you give the police access to your phone to look at your license you’ve opened up Pandora’s box and they can look at anything.

Just take a pic of your license

I left the house this morning without my wallet. Downloaded the app and moments later I was legal. It's a nice backup.

I have it and have used it several times.
I had to use it in Shreveport when I got pulled over by a LA State Trooper. He confirmed I could use it and verified my identity. I still got a speeding ticket though.
I also used it at Walk-Ons here in Baton Rouge when the bartender ID'd me.
And lastly, I used it yesterday at the polling station to verify my identity when I went to go vote.
I think it's a cool and great thing for our state to have. Since it's brand new of course it's going to take some time for adoption to spread. It's only $5.99 and a regular driver's license is ~$30.00/year and is valid for 6-years. That makes the LA Wallet app come out to cost you $1/year. Totally worth it IMO.
Unless I am misunderstanding you, that's not how it works. You scan someone else's QR code from their LA Wallet app to verify their identity, not their physical DL. They mention some stuff on their FAQ page LINK /

I have it. You can use it to verify if someone is who they claim they are if they have the app as well. You are suppose to be able to scan someone actual DL to verify their identity but that doesn’t work as of now.
