BATON ROUGE – Louisiana State Police Superintendent Mike Edmonson is expected to announce his retirement Wednesday, reports say.
Sources tell WWLTV that Edmonson will retire as Louisiana State Police Commander Colonel. He has held the post for nine years.
The move comes after an investigation into allegations that troopers took a taxpayer funded “side trip” to Las Vegas and Grand Canyon during a trip to a law enforcement conference in San Diego. Governor John Bel Edwards ordered a probe into the agency after reports about the side trip. The "side trip" cost the state agency thousands of dollars in overtime.
"It's not what we want to have to contend with right now, we have a lot of other things going on," Edwards said in February. "We [take it] very seriously, and the decision we make will be appropriate once the investigation is complete," the governor continued.

Scuttlebutt is that it's supposed to be released in mid march. Wouldn't surprise me to see it strategically dropped this Friday afternoon before St. Patrick's day.
Supposedly it was set to be released in February, but some unforeseen circumstances led to it being delayed.

One of the few he didn't take. Mike Edmondson is a scumbag who abused his power for far too long. Louisiana is infinitely better off without him.

I go back and forth on Col. Edmonson. The LSP is a top notch organization, but has had a few too many distractions of late.
The Vegas thing, there was a cop over in Troop D who was sleeping during his shifts because he ran a construction business, etc.
All that said, I think that he handled the situation with the death of Trooper Vincent with poise and class like no other and his leadership ability shined no brighter than at that time, when it was needed most.

It's gotta be a PITA to manage an org like LSP. So much high risk shite could go wrong on any given day.
