The company is responsible for the actions of the pilot. I read somewhere that the company has a $50mm liability policy.

Want to see the final analysis. To me it sounds like pilot freaked out (either warrantedly or unwarrantedly) and tried to correct what he thought the problem was; only to find out his readings and/or judgement was incorrect.

The final report will likely conclude the pilot flew into IMC while flying special VFR and wasn't proficient enough flying in IMC to save the situation.

But we'll see obviously. And no cockpit voice recorder or flight data recorder will make things more complicated for investigators.
