Dollar General is pretty close to a 1970's shopping experience.
Also, small town grocery stores.

however, I do remember marking down some shitty work gloves from around $3 per pair to $2.75 and two ladies actually got in a physical fight over a pair...
You knocked a whole quarter off the price and a fight ensued? I had no idea the world was as fricked up back then as it is now...

You should have been around to see the fights over Cabbage Patch dolls.
quote:
The holiday season of 1983 saw several violent occurrences in such major retail stores as Sears, J. C. Penney, and Macy's. In smaller retail sales, such as Kmart and the now defunct Zayre, retailers attempted to control crowds by handing out "purchase tickets" to the first several hundred customers, leaving hundreds if not thousands more empty handed after standing in line for several hours[2]
Reports of violence included hitting, shoving, trampling as well as some customers attacking others with hand held weapons such as baseball bats in order to get to obtain a Cabbage Patch Doll.

We didn't have TG&Y. Instead it was Bargain Town.
Toy selection was pure garbage.

Yeah, the fact I grew up calling my grandmother mom has caused a lot of confusion and really bothered those who like to be douche-bags and assholes on here.

Eh, I don't think he personally was piling on. I think Finderman may have genuinely been confused. But those who jumped on and accused me of lying about it are doing it just to be assholes. And it's like I said, nothing will make them change so there's no use in even bothering. They're assholes for no other reason than they think it's cute to be an a-hole.

frick off boy. You whine about me daily on here. I'm just calling a fricking spade a spade. Don't like being called an a-hole? Well then stop acting like a little a-hole.

You're probably the only person that takes this site this seriously. Just saying, being a crybaby doesn't help your case when people "pile on"

We had TG&Y in New Roads when I was a kid. Hotwheels were $.99!!
Heyyy...there's no cent sign on my keyboard. When did this happen?

Correcting people who accuse you of lying is not being a "cry baby". And what part of frick off do you not understand?

Darth, love the Eddie Eastwood. I had that poster as a kid. Derrick Riggs should have been considered a member of the band...
...relevance: I got a "Killers" tee shirt at TG&Y waayyy back in the day. Mom wouldn't let me wear it out in public.

I've been a Iron Maiden fan since I first heard them back about 83-84. Back in the day there use to be a store in B'ham at the old Century Plaza Mall called the India Shop where I'd go buy all their t-shirts and posters. I actually got to see them on their "Powerslave" tour. Still one of the best shows I've ever seen.

You accuse me of a being a crybaby and yet I've never seen anything from you about me other than whining and bitching about things I've posted. Go away you worthless little shite and find something better to do with your time. Nobody gives two fricks about what you think about me.
