I think the squirming and movements are the nerves...whether it's actually 'alive' after decapitation ...I don't know..same with chickens..

Tens of Millions of crawfish and lobsters are dropped (while still alive) into boiling water every year and it doesn’t seem to bother anyone.

Burning a snake in a wal mart parking lot makes them morons but not criminals imo.

It's to illustrate that they went out of their way to run it over and burn it alive. I'm sure they had something in their truck they could've killed it with more humanely, or you know, just do nothing.
