I'd be more worried about the poor kid getting his shoes taken by his parents and them trying to sell them.
Major props to the kid that bought the shoes though, was a genuine nice gesture on his part and he clearly has parents who have taught him well.

I think I would be offended that some other family bought my kid shoes because it'd be saying that I supposedly couldn't. If my kid has shoe problems at school, that's something I should be taking care of. The parents could've reached out or something to the other parents instead of just buying the kid shoes.
But of course, I don't know the whole story. Maybe they are a known poor family that always asks for help. I am just too proud to accept gifts like that.

Well you don't know the parent's situation, and I'm not claiming to either. But my parents grew up poor and when people tried to give us gifts, they always turned it down. I was raised working for everything I have. I'm just saying, I wouldn't accept it. I'd be thankful, but I wouldn't want my son to learn it's okay to take unneeded gifts.

No offense but you'd be a complete a-hole to react like that. Someone's kid saw your child taking a solid bullying and decided to give him his shoes to make him feel better.
I'm too proud to accept charity as well but that's the best part about this.

Look, if your kid was being bullied, wouldn't you want to be involved in what was going on? Why is some other family helping my child when I can? I'm not trying to say I'm some welfare family; I'm just saying it as any parent might. If shoes are the problem, I would just buy him shoes. If I couldn't afford it, then he'd have to figure something else out. If I'm trying to be a parent, I don't need someone else doing my job. If I didn't give a shite as a parent, then hell, buy my kid whatever you want.

One situation, two children are learning how powerful a small act of kindness is and maybe some other kids see how "cool" that actually is.
The other situation, a parent is teaching their kid that money solves all of life's problems and as long as you keep up with the Joneses and be just like everyone else, you'll never be bullied again.

I never had good shoes when I was in school but I didn't get picked on for reasons. I think it would be a little embarrassing to be gifted nice shoes but I and my family weren't too proud to turn away the kindness of those who truly wanted to help.

That really gets me. I was that kid at one time. Hurts to have kids make fun of you for something out of your control. I'm 41 now and it still bothers me. I never said anything to my parents, because I didn't want them to feel bad.

I know this is just an example of a simple act of kindness but with what has been covered on national news networks these past few days, stories like this mean a lot. Yes, I agree with other posters, kids are shitheads for bullying others kids for something like what kind of clothes they have. Kudos to the parents.
