Meh, Korean companies are pretty incestuous.
I’m unfortunately too familiar with this.
Kia has invested more in quality control, which shows in their build quality. I’m not saying the Hyundais are shite, but they have different brand philosophies and Kia is a little better at the moment. And both are trailing Toyota. I stand behind my original statement.

Compared to a Hyundai, yes They are the same vehicle, like buying a Chevrolet or GMC truck, Ford or Mercury
Except the Kia is made in America and the Hyundai in Korea.
They are far from the same.

Being on the same platform doesn’t mean they’re the same vehicle. Kia and Hyundai operate with more autonomy than we’re used to seeing in the US brands and therefore have their own build and quality standards.

Don't quote me but isn't the warranty 5/100K?

I would think the parent company implement the standards. Are Lexus worse than toyotas?

Hyundai isn’t really the “parent” company. They own 33ish%.

I woukd agree that Kia is better, not sure that they trail Toyota, but are certainly better than Honda.

They are a great vehicle for the cost. I still have a 2008 spectra. Runs like a top. I also had a new 2013 optima that was a great great car until it got totaled.

Who owns the other %?
Various investment groups.

If any of the big 3 had the same warranty they would be bankrupt tomorrow.

The 3 downvoters don't know shite about cars.

It’s hard to beat Toyotas quality control and over engineering.

So they probably have the most to say for their standards

But they don’t. They operate very autonomously.
