The peninsula is beautiful, but I definitely met some strange cats up there.
If you avoid the area between Kasilof and Kenai/Soldotna, it's a lot better. Seward and Homer are cool as hell.
Soldotna/Kenai and the Mat-Su have some rough around the collar characters. Mat-Su is full of slope workers.

Can't believe there are satanists in god's country. I never met any when I lived there.

The only good thing to come out of Kenai is LNG.

I've met a few in various parts of the State. I always assumed it was more of some character play than anything really serious.
Mat-Su has quite a few.

There are good folks there. I've got some friends who do guiding on the River.

It's odd enough that it's probably the only invocation anyone pays attention to anyway. During the regular Christian version I mostly pray the guy will keep it short so everyone can do what they came to do.

Exactly my thoughts. It's like they're saying "hey, I believe in God, but I'll take his wrath and worship that Satan guy. Woohoo damnation."
Maybe some of these people are masochists, and enjoy pain/suffering ?

No different than pastafarians and their nonbelief of starches.
