Ken Burn's Civil War streaming on PBS

Just an FYI they remastered the documentary and it's streaming on PBS. Great doc for the history of the Civil War in Ken Burn's style with lots of old pictures, great music, and interviews.
And if you haven't checked out the PBS site I recommend it. Lots of good shows stream for free: Nova, Frontline, etc.

Man I didnt learn much from that. Ken Burns is all over the place jumping here and there and back and forth in time. His documentaries are all about him.

Each episode has a theme, but generally focuses on key events in a reasonably chronological order (now - when he introduces a figure, there is normally a biographical sketch, which breaks the timeline or there may be a review of key events to put things in perspective) - and then he hits all of the constituent beats in a relatively consistent way - civlian leadership (mainly the north), strategic military leadership (focused on AotP and ANV), operational leadership (typically the cavalry commanders), private soldier Union, private soldier Confederate, ordinary civilians (typically Southern), the black experience (historian Fields, primarily, and Morgan Freeman's voicing of Frederick Douglas), etc.

Sounds like fancy pants is a Civil War buff himself if he didn't learn much from nor did he care for Burns' style.
I Loved that series on Netflix a couple years ago. I could rewatch it every few years and learn something and re-learn alot.
