Just pull the damn bandaid at one time

Close all businesses. Restrict movement by vehicle. Set up checkpoints along roads. Do this shite for a week or two, then remove the restrictions and let things get back to normal. This will buy time for the medical care sector.

What entity do you envision doing this?
Because local and state authorities don’t have anywhere near the numbers that would be required, and the federal government is not allowed to enforce something like this with the military.

I agree with you. Unfortunately, our policymakers will stretch this crap out for weeks, especially if they think they'll get to dole out some bailout money. Our economy can't survive continuing the status quo to "flatten the curve." Better to suffer hardship for one or two weeks and then everything go back to normal.
