I think the Don't Pass bet is the best bet in a casino as far as odds are concerned.

Right. There is no code to crack. The best odds in a casino is at a craps table and if you catch a hot table you can win some money, but there is no fricking code.

What is the don’t pass bet? Excuse my ignorance, but I just learned how to play last week and I haven’t played since, and the man who taught me didn’t explain that bet.

If the table is good I'll play the passline. After the point is made, min inside bet and 2x-3x odds on the passline. I'll press my inside bet 1-2x before I start same bet and taking the winnings. Pending the drink ladies have been running quick, I'll also throw out nickel hardways and hop bets. Slow table I either won't play or passline + 1-2x odds and 6 and 8 no pressure til it picks up.

Congratulations. You'll lose your shirt more slowly than the guys who bet on their lucky number or their kid's birthday.
