I think the lack of utility outside the value is the biggest issue.

It seems to be a risky investment that lacks the tangible value that other collectibles have.

You have a space on the blockchain that is memorialized by a digital graphic.

Until you can mesh the two concepts into why that’s important, you’re gonna be stuck with enthusiastic early adopters pushing the price upwards.

The fine art example is probably the most analogous, but you still have the scarcity of owning that one particular canvas. I just don’t know if that’s going to translate to owning a hashtag on a blockchain with no real purpose other than storing other peoples hashtags on the same blockchain.

What’s the increased utility of having a work of authorship on the blockchain v. having physical possession of it?

I admit to not understanding how this works but I’m curious…who is the author of these works?

do you still carry physical pictures of your kids in your wallet or are they stored on your iphone and you show people that way?

i could easily argue that digital assets are superior to tangible ones in several ways

nfts will be the catalyst that brings normies into the space. theres just not a killer app to onboard everyone.

I believe this also. I have a friend who wants a degen nft and his reason was just because he wants to be involved. Its a fun/crazy space if you treat it that way now.

The people in disc trying to dump their shitty nfts because theyre missing payments on their bills is mind boggling though.

I have multiple dms of people just straight up asking for money lol. This dude went on and on. Was sad

Like who designed them? The team has a specific guy that did all the art. He does the art for all of their nft platforms.

They hosted a sale on their website at a designated time and I exchanged crypto for ownership of said nfts. It was a lottery done so the rarity of your nft was by chance.

Did that answer the author question?

what's the increased utility of having the original mona lisa vs a perfect replica?

if the metaverse is adopted by a tiny fraction of what "they" are predicting... NFTs will be here to stay. we will probably see a shift in what's valuable though.

as we descend further into economic and cultural chaos, people will live online more and more... and everyone likes to show off. you might not be able to afford a real house, but you can get a nice place in the metaverse and can decorate it with your sick NFTs.

yea man, i have had a few normie friends get involved. they love it lol. its been a lot of fun for me this year but i see the downsides too.

so many people are clearly addicted to the gambling aspect of minting and throwing around capital they dont have just to catch the next hot drop.

reading the discords before mint day is fascinating

Is there a centralized exchange showing Jones owns this monkey and shows the price of it and people just send you bids?

But won’t there still be scarcity and supply and demand principles at play in the metaverse?

solana is like 0.001 fees so not much to lose if it doesnt work out.

like we said, you truly have to just dive in to completely understand it

So like a work for hire I guess? Does this guy/team transfer the copyright to these works in writing when they are “minted”/purchased, etc?

This is currently a huge deal with Eth nfts. Its an online dick measuring contest amongst people with money most people on this site will never even sniff.

Its nothing for these people to drop what amounts to 5-10 years of salary for the average OTer on an nft like theyre buying a sandwich for lunch.

I use Solanart to buy and sell nfts currently. When I put an nft on there, I connect my wallet, select the nft, then set a sell price. It is now on their marketplace for other people to either bid on or buy. I have to accept bids.

The website will show who the seller is by posting the address to my wallet. On that site, it will show everything I am selling. You can also go to a blockchain explorer or an nft explorer and see everything in my wallet.

If someone agrees to purchase my nft, they pay the site and receive the nft, the site takes a cut for them and the team, then gives me the rest. It varies but usually 5-8%.

Everything is on the blockchain and is verifiable and able to be looked at before any agreement is in place.

Which is your fine art analogy.

What’s the real world analogy and argument for longevity for you and rocket’s marketplace two rungs below the frick you money?

That’s what I’m missing.

I guess you can just call it a job. The guy is the teams artist. Plenty of the teams give the artist a cut of the sales from the exchanges. Its purely up to the teams how they distribute the money
