Catholics are so weird in regards to Mary. She was a normal human, sinful and condemned like the rest of us.

God just chose her, that’s it. She’s not Holy.

Do you believe that she was a virgin who gave birth to a baby?

Again, do you believe that she was a virgin who gave birth to a baby? Is that where you draw the weird line?

That's what I was going to say.

"Visited by an angel?"

"Sure"

"Gave birth to God as a virgin?"

"Hmm alright I guess"

"Birth was painless?"

"Absolutely not"

Yes, I’m not sure what that has to do with her being fully human and a sinner by birth?

You're calling other people's beliefs about her weird, but you're overlooking that your belief is just as weird.

Exactly. I’m so confused why this is even a question. If Christ, being fully God and fully man, felt pain upon the cross and while he was being scourged, felt the pain of all mankind’s sin upon His shoulders, then Mary felt the pain of childbirth being fully man and therefore a sinner.

Except it's not.

If life begins at conception, and Jesus was never conceived, was Jesus ever alive?

Yes she was a virgin. The Lord chose her, touched her, and miraculously put Jesus in her womb.

How is that weird? If you believe in God that’s nothing. He can do all things.

What’s weird is exalting a human to “sinless” status to the point she felt no pain in childbirth.

Again, Mary was born a sinner, a human like the rest of us. Why she is exalted and prayed to is beyond my comprehension.

It’s like praying to David, Moses, Paul or any other major figure in the Bible. They were all sinful humans. Christ is the only answer.

He can do all things, but woah, hold on. He can't make her sinless. That's just ridiculous!

This is why I love these conversations. You can't grasp how your own belief is weird, but you're quick to call others' beliefs weird.

Does anyone pray to these people?

She also had other children. Mark 6:3-"Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?"
So 4 brothers, one of whom wrote the book of James, another who wrote the book of Jude and more than one sister.

Why do y’all want her sinless? Honest question. She can’t save you. She needed Jesus like the rest of us.

I don't. I'm irreligious. However, it makes sense from a Catholic/Orthodox perspective. If Jesus is sinless, how can he come from something that is sinful?

Why would he make anyone but his own son sinless? That would defeat the purpose of his sacrifice on the cross. Why would he sacrifice his own Son if Mary was already sinless? Why didn’t her death save us all? Why even send his son then

Enlighten me on that.

Because to be incarnated as a human, the human that gave birth to him cannot have passed her sin on to him. It wouldn't defeat the purpose of the sacrifice. It was just applied to Mary before it occurred. She wasn't God, don't be silly.
