Cook County State’s Attorney - Kim Foxx; Democrat.
Contacted by Michelle Obama’s former chief of staff (Tina Tchen) on behalf of Smollett. Initially recused herself from the case because of the contact between Tchen and the Smollett family. Campaign to unseat previous Democrat Attorney (Anita Alvarez) reportedly was partially funded by George Soros money. Campaigned on the promise of being more transparent and stopping police corruption/conviction of innocents.
Tina Tchen is a Chicago lawyer with ties to both the Emanuels and Obamas. Michelle’s Chief of Staff after being “Assistant to the President” for six years.
US Senators – Corey Booker and Kamala Harris; Democrats.
Immediately release similar messages on Twitter calling the incident a “modern day lynching,” and just so happen to push through a Federal anti-lynching bill two weeks later. Also…they are in the running for the Democratic nomination for next year’s presidential election.
Booker has associations with Obama: obviously promoting him during his campaigns and whatnot, offered a position in Obama’s White House, and elected to Senate during Obama’s second term.
Harris was mentioned for Supreme Court and US Attorney General during Obama’s presidency. Endorsed by Obama for her Senate seat. Has supported various Democrat led health care platforms in the Senate (ObamaCare is Obama’s crowning achievement, after all).

I didn't say the Obamas did. But I'd wager this prosecutor had support from some power players in the DNC. The fraternal order of police is already calling for an investigation into Foxx.
