Bayou Manchac is much higher than bluff swamp right now. Itd be a tidal wave over alligator bayou into st gavriel.

Most folks in this thread dont realize that and think Iberville / ascension just tried to save "a couple dozen homes". The arguments being made by those ignorant to the entire situation are aplenty.

There should 100% be a gage on both sides of the alligator bayou gate to show this.

The only way to solve this is pump Manchac / bluff swamp to the river. Otherwise, somebody is getting fricked. Either ascension/Iberville flood because BR is fricked up and can't dredge out drainage anywhere or BR swims in their own pool they made.

If its anything like usual there will be hours of news footage showing it.

Unfortunately that isn’t at all a cost effective solution - and likely isn’t feasible at all

Iberville should be pumping to the river as an oh shite measure, and BR needs to clean up all their shite. BR should be draining bluff swamp to the amite to lake maurepaus. Spanish lake is not meant to be a retention pond.

Nope, nor is blowing up houses and digging out canals everywhere. Nobody REALLY wants to fix this, so we'll continue to have this problem every few years.

That’s what it is naturally. A backwater swamp. First for the Mississippi, now for Manchac.

EBR fricked- Iberville Stacked

1970’s and even early 90’s that road next to manchac acted as a levee. They closed the locks by the boat launch and that area flooded from rains not flood water coming in from EBRP.
All of that interferes with the natural flow of water from EBR southward. The road, the locks and now the Aqua damn are all unnatural barriers that block the natural flow.

That and more patrol cars for cops on 30. ;-)

The road has been there over a century now per old topo maps from 1921. The people at risk for flooding in EBR built way after that.

Fine, forget about machetes. How about placing water canyon's in Bayou Manchac and blasting it over Bayou Paul Road?

You know who lives at U-Club from all the downvotes. Let me buy a house where my neighbors kids can jump on my roof from their roof.
On the flip side, building a new house on the low side of Bluff Road...lol
