Assuming this is your first kid, I can't recommend leaving a stable situation right before the kid arives. You're going to have enough to deal with over the next year or so before you all get settled into the parent gig.

P.E. teacher to Construction Superintendent.. I would stick with teaching. Hiring ppl like you she won't stay in business long.

You should post your unedited offer letter with the name of your supervisor here.

this is true. unless you have a ton of construction experience doing residential shite prior to teaching, it wont work. you can forget doing commercial or industrial work

You can't really think you'd be an effective PM just because you're a PE teacher, right?

Seriously.

OP let me give you some advice. There's more to construction than it looks, especially if you have zero experience with it. Permitting, code enforcement, cash flow management and contract management are all critical elements to running a successful business. And we haven't even gotten into how to build.

And the MWOB game is a racket. Believe me you need to let your friend know there are a TON of businesses that exist solely to milk that system with capital and experience that will far exceed your friend. She's liable to get left picking up scraps that those folks don't want. Escpecially if neither of you have any experience.

If I were you I'd stick with your good benefits and steady paycheck.

Stick with school

Unless you decide to become Chester the child molester or hit a kid you will never get fired.

Then you can retire
