Six interviews and the last one 3 hours?
I interviewed for my job almost 41 years ago, it was a three phase interview that took about two months to complete, lots of medical, psych, background testing in addition to personnel interviews and aptitude testing, the same interview/hiring process today takes 2-3 hours max, and a CJO is given on the spot, the condition is passing a piss test, times , they are a changing

You’re not wrong. It’s just disappointing.
The 3 VPs loved me.
They were excited to offer me and wanted to reaffirm comp
Then this woman wastes 3 hours of my time
Def don’t want to work for her lol

What’s weird is the CEO (never met) connected with me the day after I met with his cofounder for 3 hours

if she's the boss I'm curious as to why she would be taking up so much of her time with him if this is the case? anyway, I think I'd walk away from that mess

Unless you REALLY hate your current job, don't do it.

Yeah. She’s one of 3 founders
My would be manager is a VP.
I’m confused why she’d waste another hour with me
Also confused why the ceo would connect with me if they didn’t want to offer

shite happens, she has 3 VPs interview the same person and she is pre-IPO... sounds insane.
Pre-IPO should be at most 2 VPs one for production/design and one for sales/legal/finance
They should never be interviewing the same person.

curious situation unless she's just an anal, micro managing type, it would be one thing if you knew, after going through this gauntlet, that you would rarely interact with her once you started there but that would be impossible to know, she could make it unpleasant for you, or become your biggest ally, tough call, good luck

Seems odd. With this level of an interview process, then they should be open to you meeting a couple of current employees at or near the level of position you are interviewing for. Tell them you want to engage with a couple of current employees to get a better feel for what it is like working there. You should interview them with a detailed level of insight, similar to how they are interviewing you. It would be a red flag if they have an issue with this. You should be interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you.

I believe you, 5-6 interviews happen at some of these start up types and they are miserable. Remember many on this board have not gone through that experience.

Unless this is a senior management position where you have a significant impact on the bottom line (plus or minus), this screams internal conflict amongst decision makers and you will likely be micromanaged to all end and scrutinized about every little thing in terms of your performance.
Attitude and skill set are most important here… that doesn’t take six interviews.
Have some respect for yourself and move on.
Edit: I went through four interviews at my current place and finally told them in so many words, “thank you for considering me, BUT make up your damn minds” lol

Run far away. This is the most ridiculous interview process I've ever heard of, assuming you aren't trolling.

Who the frick does this start up think they are making you do 6 interviews. That’s seriously so rude and inconsiderate of someone’s time

Run far away from start ups. I’ve worked for three and in my experience, they have the wrong people in the wrong positions and the higher ups are not qualified enough to realize it. They have some super strong “inside the bubble” thinking without any ability to step back and look at things without rose-colored glasses and you’re able to ignore it for a while but eventually enough stupid shite happens that you finally get fed up and leave.

At a start up now and this is true… but the equity upside is nice

I think we can assume the OP is familiar with the pros and cons of tech startups LOL

some could turn out to be life changers, but they're far and away the exception, friend of mine's wife was own the ground floor with a little start up called Amazon, accepted a lot of stock/options as compensation/bonuses early on, original Southwest Airlines employees were in a similar position, etc.

Yeah my current company IPOd and I’ve made a small fortune (not Amazon level lol)
But I have no debt, my kids have their college funded, etc.
