I’ve got deadbolts on every door. All of them can be unlocked from the exterior with a key.

It's not unheard of for accidents like that to be fatal. The drunk doesn't know how bad he's hurt, goes to bed, his blood isn't clotting real well because his liver's fricked up and not producing platelets, and he bleeds to death.
