Kids should actually do this. Sure, they’ll get that questioning attitude eventually but prior to that developing, they are safer doing what they’re told. This is a general statement obviously and people take advantage of it. Just pointing out the fallacy.

It’s not a fallacy. Kids need to know that there are duly passed laws and there are power grabs. We should not give in to power grabs outside of constitutional processes. We should not go along with virtue signaling. Kids should not be complying with being forced to wear face masks because they don’t work, they impair social and academic development, and Covid is a very minor illness in kids generally.

My kids learn a lot about living in authoritarian regimes in their schooling, and so they recognize these things when they see them. It’s never too early to encourage critical thinking in your kids.

My kid is 7. He asks plenty of questions. Constantly. His current favorite TV shows are Drain the Oceans and any WW2 documentary. He knows more about the Titanic than James Cameron.

But when he was 2 or 3, he wasn't exactly going to understand what an authoritarian regime is, and if I tried to explain it to him, he would probably grow up thinking his mom and I are dictators with all of our rules and instructions we gave him without his understanding.
