There was another shooting/murder at a gas station closer to the fairgrounds same night.
Jazzfest left out that title. Such a mystery why.

Did you even read the arrest info on the dead guy?
Guilt by association -- everyone present was charged with the same offenses.
Anyhow, you shouldn't blame the victim for his own death unless and until more comes out about why he was targeted.
