I think Eddie wins the business decision by a fair margin. Ex-NFL player, in shape (eye candy for female viewers), minority (in which there are currently none on FN). I don't think it's wrong for Food Network executives to think that Eddie can bring Food Network more money than Jay can - and in the end that's what matters.

I this is what won it for Eddie. He is something different for Food Network and something that doesn't look anything like what they have. As an executive I would be looking at the bottomline and not who can sear the perfect steak. A good producer can take care of that.

No doubt Jay lands on his feet, maybe a Boy Meets Grill type show.

They have minorities. I am thinking former NFL'er, fit, and charismatic.

But does he know more than Profesional celebrity chefs that make millions on TV? Apparently not since they picked their winner

Do you really believe that reality TV isn't staged?

Just cause Eddie fits the mold of what a possible star who could bring in a crossover minority demographic is, doesn't mean it's the case.

Also with Jay being from Louisiana, and the overwhelming success Louisiana has had on the cable TV market from a multitude of networks featuring it's people, there was equal a chance in growing the Food Network had Jay won.

Because of their being legit reasons why it could have gone either way, you have to look at it from all angles. There is a good chance people can see this for the business move it was to work in drawing more minority viewership, and sometimes when people see that curtain pulled back it hurts a company going forward. We will see.

So Food Network is going to collapse because they chose the black guy?

Pretty much all of these Food Network Star people end up gone after a year so it's really weird to have so much bitching about this.

I was thinking of a good show idea would be to send Jay to all of the "top tailgates" in college football. Demo their cuisine, etc. Could have put it on early Saturday Morning. Eddie wasn't a bad choice to win, although I thought Jay had it on lock.
