Jackson has approximately 175,000 residents and is 80% African American. That means that approximately 35,000 white people call Jackson home and that number is shrinking by the year as they leave to got to surrounding areas, such as Madison and Rankin Counties.
In 20 years, unless there is a major change, one can easily and safety assume that the population of Jackson will remain stagnant, but the demographics will continue to shift.
Therefore, unless the African American population of Jackson starts to take more pride in the city (one step would be to not elect people like Stokes and Lumumba) then it will only continue its decline.
The infrastructure in Jackson is third world in some places already because there is no tax base and no person in the right mind will work for the city, even it there were money to support projects.
