haven't drank in 18 months. Every aspect of my life has drastically improved with sleep being the main one. Good on you.
I can’t imagine drinking so much that quitting would have a significant impact on my life

I never have sleeping and eating issues associated that I see spoken of here frequently with drinking, maybe because I just drink beer and rarely more than 2 or 3? But even when I drink more like on an LSU football tailgate Saturday I sleep like a baby and eat and digest fine?

But, I'll never begrudge anyone who choses not to drink for whatever reason. It's admirable.

Good for you for making a decision to stop drinking.

I never understood the appeal of why people drink alcohol to begin with. Most alcohol doesn't taste good, makes you feel like shite after you drink it, and just isn't good for your overall health.

It literally gets the best of us and it literally gets the worst of us.

Thats alcohol in a nutshell.

Yes, by weekends I mean Friday, saturday and Sunday.

Monday were miserable. Tired, aggravated, no drive.

Tuesday a mix of a little better, but still not my self.

Finally Wednesday feeling a little normal, and then.....wash a repeat. Miserable.
I recognize the cycle well.

It's obvious older we get, the faster the body dehydrates with alcohol consumption which causes all sorts of disruption to sleep patterns, energy level and mood swings. Recovery just takes longer.

It's not worth it to me to feel like pure shite 3-4 days a week all because I drank beer after work or a few martinis/bourbons at night. I gave it up altogether, other than a cocktail at an event or wedding, etc.

Everyone’s different. A few drinks makes me sleep like a baby and feel good the next day. Oh course you have to know where your threshold is.

You may think that, I know I certainly did. I wear a Garmin watch like OP and started wearing it while I slept and it was insane how much worse I actually slept.

It's easier to FALL asleep, but the QUALITY of sleep is dramatically worse. I think that is the case for everyone, except maybe for folks going through something like alcohol withdrawals.

Awesome… I go weeks at a time. 1 rule… never drink on a work night or the weekend when they say can you come in if we need you? Once I finally do I’ll have a drink or 2 and fall asleep. Work wears me out but the key don’t let drinking control you, you control the drinking. Good luck bro.
