It’s insane how poorly some of the popular restaurants treat customers

We were going to go to popular steak restaurant. We put our names in. No reservations for parties less than 10. They give us an 1 1/2 hour wait and they say we will call us. We go to bar

They call us up almost exactly an hour and a half later “Your table is almost ready. Please make your way over.”

We show up and they ask us to go into the waiting room. Ok. There were about 12 people in a 12 v 12. There are a few seats and tabkes. It’s BYOB so people are drinking.

It’s fine. We wait. After 25 minutes, we ask the host what’s up. Dude says our table is about ready. Then more and more people start showing up. And they start taking seating and tables out to allow for more people in the waiting room.

After an hour in the room, it’s standing room only filled over capacity with a line of people going out the waiting room. One of our party was who was claustrophobic started hyperventilating

We talk with the host and he started yelling at us for asking about the wait. “Hey, I can’t control how long it takes people to eat. You’ll be up when you’re up.”

we left and have had such a better night since leaving
