How much does this cut Broom's budget?
Estimates from the trial are around 48 million dollars.

Should be an interesting week.

Word around the campfire is that St. George will exist by Friday
Can you give some details on this?

I haven't been following this as closely as some. What exactly is BR's legal theory here?

They are dependent on SG tax dollars and can not afford to lose them.
We aren’t qualified to provide services in time.
And we are all racists.
That’s it in a nutshell.

Yep…they claim:

the St. George organizers did not present in their incorporation petition a plan for the list of municipal services the proposed city would provide to its residents. The plaintiffs also claim St. George cannot deliver services to its residents in a reasonable amount of time.

They put forward a budget outline, told voters what they would provide, and we voted yes.
As I type Broome has failed to appoint a committee person to work on the transition committee the governor approved. SG is trying to get ready while Broome is doing all she can to stop us and to siphon off as much tax dollars as she can.

Given how much in the parish is either private industry, tax districts, or parish level taxes, they really don’t have to offer much in the way of services.
If the city of BR were actually offering services based on what people were paying for, we wouldn’t be in this fricking mess.

You have to ask, what is SG getting for 48 million each year.
It certainly isn’t clean ditches, trash pick up, well maintained streets, etc.
I think we are getting economic development in NBR, a vegetable garden in Howell Park, groceries in community centers and more deadheads in city hall.

Apparently we are getting raises for Murphy Paul and a bunch of his Omega Psi Phi brothers who should be unemployed.

Still curious about what Amon knows.
