Man the shocks and the suspensions on those things must be incredible. How much horsepower are those things putting out these days?

ETA - 1500 hp

its crazy to think we have gone from back flips on dirt bikes to this in about 10-15 years. They are flipping pretty much every vehicle now.

LOL at everyone thinking that was planned...

Notice the gif stops right before he hits the back flip ramp..

But hey, this might be a new stunt for their routine...

Whether he planned it or not he won the competition.

Lee O’Donnell shocked the Monster Truck world on Saturday when he captured the 2017 Monster Jam World Finals Freestyle Championship by landing the event’s first-ever front-flip.

And apparently it's been attempted before.

Tom Meents, an 11-time Monster Jam champion, also landed a front-flip in 2015. But his missed the record book because it over-rotated and his front tires didn’t hit the ground.

As "drunk crazy redneck" monster truck shows look, it's pretty well planned out. If not, they'd be dying every show doing dumb shite.

I stand by my assessment that this was planned.

It seemed planned, how he hit the gas to keep the front tires in the air.

Yeah, that seemed like too precise of a maneuver just to be an accident.

Monster Trucks are now doing front flips

That's awesome. I have twin 5 year old boys, and we've recorded and watched all of this year's episodes, they're way into it. We also went to the show at JerryWorld.

They were begging to go to the Las Vegas Finals, they didn't win that one lol. We'll catch it on TV, they're excited to watch it.

Why else would he accelerate and pick the front wheel up higher before the second jump?
To ride the wheelie. That's a pretty standard move after a jump where they land and the front tires come off the ground, they'll hit the gas so they can ride the wheelie as long as possible.

I just don't see any way that he planned that.

I'm no monster truck expert, but the way he gassed it after the first jump to keep the front tires lifted tells me this was planned.

That's a normal move they do to keep the wheelie going as long as possible.

Conveniently the second dirt pile (the one that started the flip) was at the correct angle, height, and length for him to hit it, pass over, and land just past it.

It was definitely planned. Same driver has attempted it before and was rumored before to attempt it during this show.

According to the interwebs.

Seems like all you need is to be in a wheelie and hit a ramp. This hasn't been done before?

The fact that Monster Truck rallies are a thing is still funny to me. We as a people are easily entertained. That flip is bad arse though. Is the Big Foot truck still around?

Not really all that convenient, shite happens. Maybe it was planned, who knows.

But let's not act like riding that wheelie was some crazy, out of the ordinary thing that never happens since every single one of them do it during their Freestyle run.

THere's just no guarantee just because he rode a wheelie he was definitely trying to do a front flip.
