This is easily a 90/10 issue

The only thing the stem is good for is when I make a batch of pickled okra from my garden every summer. Easier to grab out of the jar and hold it by.

That’s just the way it is when you buy the Great Value house brand from Walmarks for 88¢.
You get the okra butts. But as a bonus, you can see if your transit time is normal or not.
ETA: Pic Sweet is even lower quality than GV.

stems and seeds should not be in a bag

It’s vegetable plant matter. I used to hate it too but it eats just as well as the rest of the pod.

I see by this post that you have absolutely no idea just how many seeds are in each pod of okra. I grow it every year and have at least 60+ plants in my garden over the summer and each pod will have upwards of over 100 seeds in it, and they are spread throughout the entire length of the pod.
I dry several large pods every summer to bust them open for seeds to plant the next year and give away to people interested in growing it. I can fill up a small Mason jar with seeds in no time.

All okra should be thrown in the fricking garbage.

I take the lazy route on my gumbo and use cut frozen okra but i fry it up in the fat from the conecuh sausage. I have never ever seen a stem. Thats crazy.

The USA world today.
Bought a Beef Roast at Christmas. Marked $120.00, $60.00 to members of Ingles Club. The checkout lady said, what a bargain!
Unwrapped to to cook it. It had at least a couple pounds of fat and giblets on top, inside the package.
The taste was not exceptional either. I'd rather have had meatloaf.
