Nah, more because of the overall tone of your post on the first page screams "bitter a-hole."
Or just a-hole.

You sound narrow minded and judgmental.
I'll refer you to your first post. Mr. Narrow Minded Judgemental a-hole.

My older Sister married a guy from Wyoming. He owned Freedom Arms in Afton,Wyoming, about an hour from Jackson Hole.
People were asking her why she was even talking to waitresses, store clerks, etc.
"You don't know them. Why are you even saying "hello" to them."
The Deep South is still practicing "chivalry".

It was commensurate with the tone of the OP. You know, the one who was basically saying that an entire area of the country didn’t have common courtesy. The fact that you agree with him may say something about you.

Meh. See above response.

It already has, people just don't realize it. The South is highly stratified. People are usually nice to their own kind and class.

On my ride to work this morning, I watched a guy sitting down stand up and offer his seat to an older woman that boarded the train.
Clearly he has to be from the south because no one in the north would ever display such common courtesy.

Wrong. It's just common courtesy. Being polite. Showing that you have a proper upbringing.

Why should someone hold the door open for you?
Because they are polite and it's the right thing to do?

Sounds like you're a sucker.
Eh... at least I'm polite.

It’s not about rushing ahead to pull the door open, it’s about not letting the door slam in the next person’s face.

Yeah, well, I do that too. I encounter people everyday up here who do that. Perhaps the entire building that I work in is filled with southerners.

Or.. Yeah, it is.
We could do this all day.
We can agree to disagree.
Also, you are wrong and bless your heart.

Cite where I said that offering your seat to someone in need makes you a sucker, please. I’ll wait. For a long time.
You people are like SJWs, who need so badly to morally preen in public that you’re better than others. It’s kind of pathetic.

To be honest, I've never cared what strangers cared about my upbringing.
Courtesy is given because you like to be nice to people. I like smiley, happy people. I'm nice to everyone until given a reason not to be.

Well, you’re outnumbered by those who don’t do it. If it makes you feel better about yourself to think that all of those people just don’t have common courtesy, rather than that simply have different cultural attributes, knock yourself out.

Yep. I spent many summers on the Jersey shore in years past, and the best way to categorize the people there is rude.
They are crass, selfish and obnoxious.

I wasn't saying that you do it to show your proper upbringing to others... you do it because you have proper upbringing.

The only real difference I've seen between native Northeasterners and the rest of us is they are very highly wound and uptight.

I had someone in upstate New York say "I don't need you to hold the door for me"
I then explained to her the southern gentleman ten foot rule.

He's right, despite all the downvotes. I grew up in an area of the midwest where people are genuinely friendly but we had no idea that people actually used these. When I moved to Baton Rouge I got my teachers pretty pissed by not saying m'am/sir. Outside of the south people just don't do this, it's just not a part of common courtesy there.
