Every home appliances expert I've ever met or listened to on the radio says to stay away from all things LG

Similar issue with mine. It's a LG french door. Model LSC27925ST. It will fill the tray but won't drop the ice so when the tray returns to it's position it refills it causing water to pour down the side of the freezer which causes ice buildup. Just turned it off and currently using ice cube trays. Fridge is 3 years old.
Had the same problem with mine a few years ago. A friend advised me to empty the tray, make sure it's dry and spray a light coat of food grade silicone on the tray. Ice started sliding out again and haven't had any issues.

Over 10 years ago I was shopping for fridges when the guy at the appliance store told me to stay away from in-door ice makers because they always break/leak/generally stop working. So...it isn't just you.
and if you are renting your house and the connection to water leaks back of the fridge, the first time you will know is when they move and you have mold and can't rent the unit until you tear it all out.

Frigidaire here but similar issues happen to mine several times a year.
Check for refrozen frost on any of the moving parts, someone mentioned earlier that the thin frost will thaw if someone leaves the door open for too long, and refreeze again thus freezing up the turning mechanisms. This is exactly correct and it happens to mine.
I take a warm rag and wipe it down until i melt the frost and then dry it really well. Close the door and let it freeze back and it should work as long as there isn't any refrozen frost locking up the moving parts.

We have the same LG refrigerator within the. Indoor ice maker. Have had the same issue for past 5 years. Will not buy LG again.
Home warranty repairmen have been out 4-5 times and fridge still will stick 2-3 times a year.
I read this was a problem with the LG (and Samsung as well). Ice in the door is a problem. I bought one (LG French Door) with Ice in the bottom for that reason. Only had it 6 months so far, but haven't had a single issue with it. It was my understanding that at least part of the problem was with the door insulation. The ice makers couldn't maintain temperature so you would have freezing, thawing/condensation issues that wreaked havoc on the dispensers. That may be a simplified view of what is actually going on, but it doesn't appear to be a problem with the ice makers that don't have door dispensing units.

In the future, don't buy a TV manufacturer's appliances. Stay away from LG, Samsung, etc. for refrigerators and washer/dryers. That's a good rule of thumb. Of course there are exceptions, but stick with Whirlpool/Maytag/Kitchen Aid etc. for those items.

Did you ever figure out what was wrong? Mine is doing the same thing. LG replaced the maker yesterday & it's still not dropping.

yep. I love KitchenAid, but if they make a 70" TV, I'm probably gonna pass.

I’ll be honest I don’t really remember what happened but I think after giving it some time after the reset and everything it started working properly
Whatever it was I know I didn’t have to do much of anything to it bc honestly I forgot all about it and this thread, it’s a miracle I saw the bump and was very surprised by it
Just make sure you have hit the reset button and give it a day or two to see what happens would be my advic

I’m about to put a bullet through my Samsung. Been having trouble with the ice maker since buying it 4 years ago. Tried all kinds of things to fix it. I’m relegated to heating up the ice maker from inside with a hair dryer about once a month. Drips water sometimes and freezes up. Getting tired of dealing with this biatch!!

Ours sounds like it is grinding ice every time you use the water or ice, or randomly on it’s own throughout the day.
Asked someone and they said the fix was like $300.
