“Thousands of Iraqi protesters are trying to storm the US Embassy in Baghdad, according to posts on social media, protesting Israel’s assassination of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut yesterday.

Videos show protesters clashing with security forces in riot gear. Hezbollah flags and photos of Nasrallah can be seen among the large crowd, along with flags of Iran-backed militias in Iraq known as the Popular Mobilization Force.”

Now that they have worked through the backlog (all the guys on that page) they can pick them off one by one as they pop up.

Hezbollah is reeling, Israel believes, and the schedule for a ground operation is therefore being moved up.

“IDF officials have been canceling planned interviews for emergency meetings, signaling that ‘all hands’ are being called in for the invasion just as footage of more and more forces moving North has been streaming across social media.”

Of course. There is no question on this. Modern day israel is a miracle nation and one of the most prosperous societies on earth.

But it is also why I dislike hearing Israeli leaders talk of eliminating Hamas, hezbollah, etc. There is no elimination plan. And to be clear I support taking our sinwar, Nasrallah, and gang even with a high level of collateral damage.

But a ground invasion of Lebanon is where I get off the bus. Lebanon is a sovereign nation that did not attack israel and is not holding Israeli hostages. I also don’t trust Netanyahu to not seize more territory and create a “peace” buffer in the north that is ultimately settled by Israelis.

You want to invade the nation that most recently attacked you . . . invade Qatar.

You anticipate, then, that the Lebanese government and military will deal with Hezbollah and reassert its sovereignty over (especially) the south of the country?

This is the same “law” that won’t enforce Hezbollah’s mandated withdrawal north of the Litani River, yes?

“The IDF has declared areas near the border with Lebanon a closed military zone following a situational assessment. The areas of Metula, Misgav Am, and Kfar Giladi in northern Israel have been declared a closed military zone and entry to this area is prohibited, the IDF said.”

I have no idea what the future brings for Lebanon. But I suspect an Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon now will achieve a similar lasting peace as did Israeli’s occupation of Lebanon in the 80s.

I’m sure the Israelis have considered these suspicions (not meaning *yours*, specifically, please understand) and believe there aren’t better options.

The Lebanese government is either unwilling or unable to expel Hezbollah. It doesn’t matter which. Nevertheless, they are responsible for what happens within their borders.

Israel is retarded to notify the US government of anything before assets are already doing work.

Launching rockets that kill and injure the young and old isn’t considered an attack? I doubt the idea of a ground invasion was the first choice, and hopefully it
doesn’t happen. However, if it does happen, Israel only has so many options
without going all the way.
