No idea.

in the 1900's, Palestine had a population of like 500k arabs and 50k jews.....why didn't the arabs kill them then when the jews had no military

I bet they wish they had. But had they would they not still be fighting among themselves?

This is true. And can be said for any past conflicts. I'm sure Germany had Germans who gave 2 shits about hitler. Southerners probably did not all own slaves or want to go to Civil War. Some Colonists were probably loyal to England. There are innocent civilians everywhere.

Exactly. Only around 1/3 of the colonists wanted to break away, about the same percent absolutely wanted to stay with England. The other 1/3 didn't care either way, but once the English started massacring them and stealing their stuff, they began supporting the revolution.

Only a small percent of Southerners owned slaves. Only a small percent of slave owners owned more than 2. Once again, it was a small group that wanted to secede at first (the political elite of South Caroline), but once the Union troops started shooting back, once the northern armies invaded the south, most of those poor non-slave-owners responded, supporting the revolution.

So it is with Palestine. Most people just want peace, but the elite want war. Once the elite can get enough clout to cause a response, the other side reacts with violence, swaying those poor peaceful people to have to choose war or death.

What? Completely off the thread's topic but 7 states had already seceded before the South opened up on Ft. Sumter in Charleston.

You're correct, the political elite in the south (those who had dozens or even hundreds of slaves).

Back then, it was the U.S. are, not the U.S. is. Peoples' loyalty was to their home state.

Just when you said the significantly large population there I did a quick google search and saw it was a very small percentage. Just wasnt sure if what I was reading was accurate or not.

And yea I think its only half the % of Palestinian Christians actually live in Palestine. I think I saw something like 56% dont line in Palestine. So I think its somewhere around 4%-5% are Christians.

And I agree with a lot of what you are saying.

to that. I generally sympathize with Israel and firmly believe in their right to exist, but I find it bewildering that so many people here have no interest in examining the situation in more depth.

quick. muslims/jews were cool with each other, Islam sees them as worshiping the same God

quote:

The same religion has He established for you as that which He enjoined on Noah ... and that which We enjoined on Abraham, Moses, and Jesus (42:13 AYA).

"We (Muslims) believe in the Revelation which has come down to us and in that which came down to you (Jews & Christians); our Allah and your Allah is One" (29:46 AYA).

there was no need.....but the Jews do not believe that they and the Muslims are "one"....only they are the "chosen".

so as soon as they got western support they leveraged it to hurt muslims(which christians viewed as devil worshipers anyway, so no big deal). Muslims were not violent en masse against Jews or Christians for hundred of years....I think since the crusades(when Christians came to fight them for holy land)

From the IDF:
"Israel is committed to act to protect its citizens. The operation will continue until its goals are reached: To bring quiet to the citizens of Israel for a long period of time, and to seriously harm Hamas and other terrorist organizations' infrastructure in the Gaza Strip."
