I can tell you how I would react. 1) I wouldn't deny my faith. 2) I wouldn't be a mouth piece for some terrorist network.

At first, I was having a hard time squaring his statement, but then I noticed something. He reads the statement, seemingly without fear, almost confident. Then it cuts to the next part and he is noticeably more fearful. I wouldn't be surprised if he was told they would free him if he read it, and the second part is after he realizes that he's about to die.
