I won't argue that.

I'm done posting in this thread. Not talking about you, but I've learned more about certain posters in this thread than any other thread.
Probably a good idea for me as well.

Right, but from what I've read, don't they do these dry runs pretty often? Get you set up in front of the camera, have you read the anti-America letter and then not actually kill you. If you think they're just doing another one of those, why put the nail in your own coffin?
THIS. Foley has probably said these words in this scenario many many times. And probably had the knife to his throat so many times that he's de-sensitized to it... Right up to the time they actually cut him. Why can't people realize this. If he struggled or started cursing Allah, all they had to do is shut off the camera, jack up his baggage and tell him if he ever acts like that during a "rehearsal" again, it was gonna get jacked up some more.

But who knows... until you're the one on your knees looking at the blade, you never know how you'll react. The survival instinct is a powerful thing.
That's my whole point. None of us know how we'd react in that situation. If I had to guess, if I was put in the situation, I'd do whatever I needed to do to try to stay alive and I would hope my friends and family would go on camera and spew all the vitriol and anti-America propaganda that they had to in order to insure they stay alive.
I'm fully aware that I could possibly handle it differently but the people who can say with 100% confidence that they'd tell ISIS to go frick themselves -- with a machete up against their throat -- are either idiots or lying for internet rep.

Didn't he have a history of anti-American reporting?

Or both.

So I just watched the video. I'll hold my thoughts on what Foley said as I'm sure that argument has been beaten to death.
One thing I'm noticing about all these ISIS videos is their quality. Most people can't even remember to turn their cell phone sideways when making a video. These terrorists are migrating across a desert killing everyone in their path yet they can somehow manage to put together studio quality videos of them killing people. They even had multiple camera angles going.

ISIS are propaganda professionals. They've been putting out well-made vids for a long time

Oh I know... I've been watching. It just seems that they've been getting better and better. If some of these guys in their propaganda department weren't such savage fricking animals they'd probably have a shot at a career in Hollywood.

I watched it up until right before they started the beheadding, then the video cut out.
His demeanor in that video confuses me. When he's talking, he seems supremely confident. He potentially could have been offered freedom, but I think it's pretty well documented that you're fricked when you get captured.
Weird situation

I was thinking the same thing... almost defiant tone and look about him.
I was also wondering why they stopped the tape right as the guy started cutting his throat... they usually show the entire process.

You're right. I should have said ensure. Minus 500 internet points for me.

I didn't... My phone did. I guess I must have a Muslim phone...

You watch too many beheadding videos if you know all that.
I was in the process of stopping it when it cut out. I ain't trying to see all that, I just wanted to hear what was said

Maybe I was quick to judge mr foley. What I should have said is " if I were in the same situation (not knowing exactly what his was), I would hope that I wouldn't say hateful and hurtful things to my family, whether they were my own words or someone else's."
