Yes, more transparency in government and business is a good thing. Some may say “well people don’t need to know because they wouldn’t understand.” But where does that stop? It’s a slippery slope. When it comes to government especially, I think it’s good to picture the people you don’t like or disagree with being in charge. And then base how much power they should have or how much transparency there should be off of that. If you’re for example, a Republican, you may be more apt to just trust your leaders to do the right thing if they are also Republican, but what about when the other party is in charge, would you want them to have the same power and lack of oversight? Because that is the precedent that would be set.
