It got wet, but is not now, and integrity is good. Will it still grow mold? Does it always have to be torn out?

Not worth rolling the dice.

How high was the water and for how long?

they have instruments that read the amount of water in the wall boards. I know it can feel and look dry to the touch and still be very wet inside. my two cents, maybe just one.

Let me give you the number for Sean Payton's drywall guy.

Man, I wouldn't take a risk on that.

rip it out, remove the wet insulation, let it air out for a week, do a mold test before putting it back together
Trust me, as someone that has dealt with mold before, it isn't worth the risk.

Not an expert, but I don't think I'd risk it. You dont want any chance of mold being in your walls.

Black Mold and I'm not talking about the band.

Let me add when you sell, you will have to disclose that you took on water and what you did afterwards.
If you don't disclose it, you open yourself up to all sorts of liability.
