Is there an car site that list the most common failures by vehicle year/model?

Best bet is go to marque-specific forums and check there.

To your question, I don't know of a summary resource like what you're talking about.

Consumer Reports has that info, most of the detailed stuff is behind the pay way or even a second paywall for specific makes/model/years.

Go to the library and check "Consumers Report". There is a section, April issue I believe, devoted to automobiles and their record.

Yes, all subscribers are asked to fill out a yearly survey on the vehicles they owned during the last year. It is fairly accurate when compared to forums regarding pattern issues.

While this is the only decent aggregator of the information I am aware of the make/model specific forums, as you suggested, are by far the best source if you have specific cars in mind but they take far more time as well. If you want to know about the IMS, HVAC and infotainment issues with a 996 911 you need to hit 6speed or Rennlist. That's how you know what to look for, what to expect cost-wise (workarounds included) and get a true feel for the actual frequency, stuff you will not get from CR.

While a well-worn sentiment BMW and Audi are now perennially in the top 7-8 most reliable cars by brand. Above all the other Euro makes, all US makes and conspicuously Honda.

Yeah. Understood. I own a BMW but it's 15 years old and it it's like being in an abusive relationship. I love it but it fing beats me down at every turn.
