Buck up and handle it.

1.Be a fricking zombie while behind the wheel with passengers.

2. Crash and kill said passengers

3. Kill innocent people in the process.

… I'll take my chances with the boss…

Shift work sucks. Deal with it. Those aren't even 12's. There are people who pull 16's regularly on turnaround.

Poor you. If you can't operate on that little sleep, please don't get a job in the real world. There are doctors and nurses who do real things that affect people (not drive a bus for students) that go way longer than that without sleep. Many other jobs too. One time. Deal with it.

Also, if you're under the impression that you need 6-10 hours of sleep in order to function the next day, go ahead and never have kids.

You sound like a giant pussy. Grab yourself a Monster energy and move along. 4 1/2 hours of sleep is not that bad.

Not sure, but truck drivers must have a certain amount of time off. 8 hrs??? I would think that would carry over to you, in the event you have to drive the shuttle since then you are acting as a chauffeur. You would require a different license than required to drive a regular car, right? Are there laws under certain class licenses other than regular one?

Look up "Hours of Service - Federal Motor Safety". 8 full hours between shifts.

I usually have to drive a company vehicle with others in it during work.

I suspect this would be a liability since you are not given enough time to get quality sleep.

There is NO "shift break" requirement in Louisiana or under federal law unless you are a minor, with the exception of DOT requirements if your occupation is a truck driver.
