Divorce/separation laws are out dated.

Granting a divorce based on a whim/ feelings can be wrong and unjust.

I put my first wife through grad school . She got a phd in a major hard science while I worked 6 days a week.

We had two great children.

A few years into her career she ups and tells me that she isn't happy and that I'm boring. She said I had to get out of the house.

She got 90 % of what I built up. I was 3 weeks away from living in my truck.

Your posts ITT tell me you're EXACTLY the kind of person we don't need procreating/raising children.

Not very bright.

You need to get a better lawyer and recalculate.

The calculator is just a simple, straightforward formula.

you lose so much of your freedom from kids which is hard to quantify.

Dude this is a very selfish way to look at it. I feel sorry for your kids.

I don't believe its hard to quantify at all for me; cost =$0. I wouldn't trade the time I spent chasing and coaching my kids for anything.

As a person who is currently paying child support, let me say this. I don't mind paying. We have 50/50 custody. I am in the private sector and she works for the government. Our salaries are not even close. Child support as is interpreted in this instance is to level the quality of life of the child regardless of where they are residing. I do not want my child worried while at my ex wife's house about where the next meal will come from, etc. while also enjoying whatever opportunities she gets to do.

With that being said, how to fix the issue is simple. if the mother has a live in boyfriend (not married) then that income should be counted towards that household in the calculator. There are enough stories out there of people not getting remarried to keep the reported income down. Second there is a clause that the mother does not have to enter the workforce until the child is enrolled in kindergarten, close the loophole, cap it at 5 years per child. A woman can have 3 kids from 3 different people, when kid 1 hits kindergarten that child support should decrease, regardless of if she is still a SAHM.

Just my 2 Cents
