I work for a company with hundreds of thousands of employees and they all have fairly innocuous job titles as far as I can tell but yesterday I looked up some guy in the company directory online and his title was "Six Sigma Black Belt." It looks like a title someone would give themselves if they hacked into the directory. CSB & yeah I could Google it but I thought it was kind of funny.

Dated a chick who got this and never understood it. Look at this vague corporate jibber jabber:

quote:

The Certified Six Sigma Black Belt is a professional who can explain Six Sigma philosophies and principles, including supporting systems and tools. A Black Belt should demonstrate team leadership, understand team dynamics and assign team member roles and responsibilities. Black Belts have a thorough understanding of all aspects of the DMAIC model in accordance with Six Sigma principles. They have basic knowledge of Lean enterprise concepts, are able to identify non-value-added elements and activities and are able to use specific tools.

It's real but it is not a title. If properly achieved it is an impressive certification. If you are in a logistics role it is advisable to be green belt at a minimum.

Yes. Several of my coworkers are going through training soon for that. Not sure what level they are planning on achieving but it is a real thing.

Yes. Covers many functions along the supply chain. If you prefer SC then go for it.

I don't think a company being, or striving be six sigma is a joke.

It's what happens when large and bureaucratic organizations want to implement things that come naturally to intelligent individuals. Naturally it becomes convoluted as shite.

No, I can only dream that I did.
I was talking to the guy on the phone because he's also a customer of the company and he was using company jargon, which was how I knew he was an employee. I looked him up after I got off the phone.
