Exhibit A of the NOLA superiority complex. Some of these Yats truly think NOLA is among the top destinations to live in the country.

Laughable.

I think people from Old Metairie are justifiably proud to reside there. There's not a better place to live in Louisiana.

I had a professor at UNO that was originally from mobile and went to Alabama - he wore a shirt that said “I’m not a snob, I’m just better than you.”

There are pretentious fricks everywhere

Maybe not the entire country but Nola draws a lot of influential people, artist, politicians, athletes, actors/actresses who pay premiums to live in some very small exclusive expensive areas that no one else on this board could afford.

For me it boils down to who you're around, what your interactions with them are like, and what options you have in your free time.

Having lived in various parts of West St. Tammany and later in Old Metairie, I can tell you that I found things across the bridge a bit cold and sterile. I can see why a young family would want to live there, but it feels like there's a complete lack of anyone aged between 20 and 30.

Houses are farther apart. People stay inside more. Nobody really walks anywhere. If you don't fit that "big air-conditioned house except for youth sports" stereotype, it kind of sucks up there.

There are little pockets of Mandeville, Covington, and Madisonville that come closer to Old Metairie in these respects, but they're a distinct minority.
