I used to pay every year, then Stelly Plan repealed. Now refund typically hits 2-3 months post-filing.
Direct deposit to bank account. No warning, just appears.

Got mine. It's because you claimed your kids because they had a lot of fraud last year.

Got mine end of last week via direct deposit, think it was maybe 20-25 days from mailing my stuff to them.

So the taxpayers overpayed, then when the State can't pay them back, the excuse is "we're broke, sorry".
Yeah, try that the other way around and see how it works out

I actually get a good chunk back from State and I make a comfortable salary.
I make a comfortable salary too. I adjust my withholding to owe a tiny bit. I owed $3 for 2015.

You want to talk about principle? You owe the State more than it owes you.

Nah they just spend too much, and the refund isn't their money

It took so long for me that I just assumed that it had already been direct deposited and I just missed it.
For the douches who think that because they owe money that it's some sort of elitist badge of honor, please. I've owed the last few years but so what. This year I actually got a few hundred back, but that was because my company changed ownership and I was forced to re-do my paycheck tax withholding info. That's what it comes down to anyway. It depends whether you want to pay as you go or pay on the back end, depending on how much you instruct HR to take out each check. I used to have it to where my wife claimed herself and my son and I claimed myself and my daughter. I claimed both kids this time while she claimed one of them. That's where the extra hundred came from.
