Isn't that what you did on Facebook to multiple posters on this board?
Yes..
Seriously, I think yall are missing the point. Its different on a message board because you sort of start to interact with people on a regular basis and over time you develop an e-friendship with them, but you only really know their online personality, which is how you associate with that person.
I am sure some of you jackasses are much cooler IRL (at least I hope so), but there is a "bond" that is formed, but everyone only associates with the personality behind the username. But if you came across someone on social media, yall had a few interactions.. And you see that you and that person seem to have things in common, would you send them a message being direct about wanting to be friends with them. For example, would you send them a message saying "what's going on. I see you are interested in __________________. That's cool because I am as well. You mind if we communicate with each other about this. Just to be clear, I would like to establish a friendship".

We used to go on Twitter all the time and just shoot the shite with people who had similar interests and such like model trains
Have you ever been those dudes who go out and watch real trains to count the number of cars they are pulling and see what they are hauling? Evidently this is a thing.

Yea. That's the exact message I would send them.

That's what I'm trying to say. We all come from different backgrounds and differing degrees of faith in the Holocaust myth that's been portrayed by the mainstream press, but we all find common ground on this website and others to talk about things we enjoy, granted that's mostly model train collecting but we do discuss other things. It would be nice to extend that connection to real life to share our interests outside of this narrow medium.

Dude, I am not asking because I want to do this...

If you have a chance to make a friend, regardless of how you do it, you should jump on it.

Are you differentiating between a message board and social media like Facebook or Twitter? It sounds like that on page 4.
There's nothing weird about hooking up with people from a message board. It's weird to randomly add people on Facebook or Twitter trying to be their friends.

Dude don't try and force a connection, let it happen organically.

I do, but since I never had friend the idea of having one really scares me. Do you have any advice you can offer?
Posted on 3/28/17 at 8:00 pm to Titus Pullo
I'd rather walk right up and do it in person

That sounds kind of creepy, to be honest. I guess if you have mutual friends with similar interests it might be less awkward though.
Can't you just "follow" some of these people on some types of social media, without actually being a friend that they talk to IRL? They may end up following you back.

I just want to say that this thread is a pathetic shite show
